1. Proficiency in the big horizontal press

For beginners, this is the first mountain to climb. When you first come into contact with the big horizontal press, it should be an F chord, or it may be a Bm chord. To learn the F chord, you must first master the minor horizontal press. It is necessary.

The trick to mastering the small horizontal press is to adjust the position of your left hand yourself. When you suddenly realize one day “Wow, this feels so good to press!” Then you should stick to that method and practice until you get the final shape.
Then some beginners will think that since I know the small horizontal press, why should I learn the big horizontal press?Let me tell you why we need to do this. The small horizontal press can only be used for simple decomposition of chords, but not for strumming. Because you’re going to sweep the six strings. Moreover, the large horizontal press will also serve the high-position chords in the future.

So, if you don’t know how to play the guitar, you will always stay at the elementary school level. There is no trick to mastering the big horizontal press, just one word: practice! First of all, you have to press it well, so that all six strings can ring, which requires you to use a lot of strength. So take a break every 5 minutes. Once you press it, the next step is to change the chords. There is no opportunistic method, just crazy practice.

2. Proficiency in strumming

This is several orders of magnitude more difficult than the big horizontal button. It takes a long time, even several years, to scan well.
This confirms a saying: “The real difficulty of the guitar is the right hand, not the left hand.” Don’t think that strumming is enough as long as you can still hear it. You must be strict with yourself, and you must be perfect!

Here I will not talk about how to practice, but just talk about the goal to be achieved. The strumming must be even. When the bass should be highlighted, the bass should be emphasized, and when the treble should be emphasized, the treble should be emphasized, instead of blindly sweeping the six strings.

There are many rhythm patterns for strumming. So try different rhythm patterns. Hand sweep and paddle sweep must be mastered. When playing songs with a pick, you should be able to decompose the middle band and sweep, and the middle band can be decomposed (time sweep and time division) so that the effect will be much better.

3. Grasp the concept of music theory

To be honest, music theory is sometimes more important than technique. I have seen many people who are proficient in playing the guitar but know nothing about music theory. Nothing to admire. Many people have a good understanding of the twelve equal temperament and the concept of chords when they first come into contact with music theory. But they are often confused when they come into contact with the concept of key.

For beginners, I don’t recommend using the scale practice method to fully understand the tones. It’s not too late to practice after you learn cadenza and can memorize the scale distribution diagrams of 12 tones. However, the scales of the first four frets can still be practiced.

At the beginning, you can know the key from the conversion of C key and G key (all I mentioned are natural modes). So you have to remember the meaning of the six basic chords in C and G. That is, the C chord in the C key represents 1, and the G chord represents 4. I won’t deduce it here, just check the book if you don’t understand.

4. The mastery of vibrato

This is probably one of the most difficult skills to master. Really don’t think it’s easy. As I said before, meeting and being perfect are two different things. Be strict with yourself! !
To knead well, it is estimated that it will take several years of practice. In addition to the requirements of timbre, we must pay attention to the beauty of the body, because it is too expressive. There are many ways to vibrato. Some people like to knead up and down, some people like to knead left and right. I suggest to know all of them, and each finger should be able to knead.

5. The ability to find sounds

Cultivating the ability to find sounds means that when you hear a piece of music, you can immediately play the corresponding numbered notation on the guitar. This is the key to stripping.

So when you are free from practice, you can just hum some tunes and play them on the guitar. But the premise is that you can master the scale distribution diagram of the 12 keys and the fingering of various sound patterns.

This ability must be cultivated. This is very helpful for both music theory and creative improvisation. Usually when you don’t have a guitar, you can also train your ears in the way that hear a piece of music and then hum its notation. Over time, you will be able to master it.

After overcoming these difficulties, presumably you should have climbed a lot of grids, practiced a lot of scale finger shapes, and learned a lot of classic tunes.
